The Degree of Inclusion of the Concepts of Human Rights in Kuwait University Teacher Education Programs.

     This Study aims at identifying the degree of inclusion of the concepts of human rights in teacher education programs in Kuwait University. A content analysis of three teacher education programs and 108 academic courses in the College of Education were used. The study surveyed the opinions  of 97 faculty members and 291 students in their final year of study. A questionnaire consisting of 25 concepts of human rights in civil political fields (n=12) and economic, social, cultural and environmental fields (n=13) was designed to achieve this study purposes. Results show a weak interest in the concepts of human rights in the objectives and contents of the three teacher education programs included in all academic courses offered. Specifically, the results show statistically significant differences between male and female responses with t- test (7.47) and level of significance (.000). In the light of the study findings, a few recommendations were provided to officials in the college of Education of Kuwait University to review all objectives and contents of teacher education programs and academic courses in order to include the concepts of human rights.
