Iraq's Oil Pollution and Environmental Legislatation .

The environment in Iraq generally and Basra in particular characterized by different types of dangerous pollutants sources especially with a presence of more than 20 productive oil fields including three above giant fields, and five giant fields. The Iraqi oil fields embraces about 150 billion barrels of proven reserves, and 3.9 billion cubic meters of natural gas. Iraq burn more than 7.5 billion cubic meters annually, including 5.3 billion cubic meters in Basra alone which produce a serious hangover such as co2, and H2s gas, and absence of environmental legislation that prevent pollution sources from further contamination and sanctions on the local and national levels, this research deals with a serious problems that caused a lot of cancer diseases through detailed analysis that ended with a set of conclusions and recommendations.
