Enhancing the Acquisition of Environmental Cognitive and Metacognitive Knowledge Through Asynchronies Discussion .

     The present study aimed to explore the impact of the design of a learning environment that fosters dialogue classmates using asynchronous discussion board on the development of environmental knowledge. The study sample consisted of (26) of the students enrolled in environmental education course. All the members of the study sample were present to discuss six controversial environmental issues in the discussion board in accordance with the protocol agreed in advance with the students. The researcher used the descriptive analysis to analyze the content of student posts to determine cognitive level. The use of appropriate statistical methods to test the validity of the study questions. The results of the study indicated the following: effectiveness of instructional design of the study to facilitate acquisition of cognitive knowledge at declaration, procedural and metacognitive levels. It also showed improvement in  student posting authenticity.
