Auther : Dr. Ameer M. AL-Alwan
The Aim of this research is to identify main factors affecting users satisfaction of taxi service and try to find better ways to organize and improve this service in Riyadh. To achieve this goal a questioner was designed for the user of this service to seek their opinion and level of satisfaction with the service. The questionnaire was tested for reliability and validity.
The results of this research showed that large percentage of the sample size uses public taxi service instead of the private taxi, and seldom uses this mode of transport to commute to work for men, shopping for women and school for students. Also, the majority take taxi from the road, and the waiting time is reasonable. The reasons for taxi preference is mainly due to not owning a car or a license for women or the car is broken for men, and depends not woning to pay for taxi service.
In addition the results indicate that a percentage of the sample size is satisfied with the cost of the service, and it's availability all the time and in all parts of the city. In the mean time the results of this research indicate that factors related to driver are the most important, followed by factors related to the car, and finally factors related to the organizing authority. Finally the main suggestions are to focus on availability of a unified number for taxi in the city, and provision of taxi zones, parking and stations in all parts of the city, and limiting taxi movement in the city. Finally imposing the use of taxi meter and strictly apply requirements on taxi drivers and taxi service to improve and organize this service.
