Upgrading and Renovation Historical Areas in Muharak City, Kingdom of Bahrain .

     The architectural heritage in the Arab countries is very rich with heritage elements. It is considered as considerable and valuable architecture legacy. According to large areas of Arab countries with different climatic conditions and variety of building characterized by historical values, large and diverse set of such buildings were found. This diversity is due to successive generations aiming to sustain customs and traditions, natural and climatic conditions.
     Concerning heritage, it is imperative to look at the development and rehabilitation of historic city centers in Arab cities in general and the city of Muharraq Bahrain is particularly. This imperative concern should address the compatibility between developmental trends and investment. Consequently, it is optimally employed in contemporary life without posing a burden on the development.
     As a background, the protection of historical sites used to occur at the individual level, and commonly by local residences of the old part of cities. Recently, with the increasing of awareness towards historical areas, It should be noted that the historical part of the city has become the most valuable part of the cultural wealth of the nation. Dealing with historical areas have to be comprehensive not only as landmarks. Public participation is important in preservation and development such areas as well.
     The aim of this study to study a true example of the development and rehabilitation of the historic district in Muharraq, Bahrain. Research Methodology was divided into two major parts, the first is at the theoretical approach to review the ideas of dealing with urbanization and historical heritage areas, followed by the analytical method for conservation projects in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Finally, framework for developing process for the historic areas and investments as well was developed.
