The Role of School Administration on Developing Citizenship Values among High School Students .

     The study aimed to identify the role of school administration on developing citizenship values among high school students from the perspective of school principals. Also, the study examined the differences (if any) of the principals respond according to gender, years of experience, and school district. To achieve the study objectives, the researcher constructed a questionnaire consisted of (47) items designed to measure eight citizenship values. The validity and reliability were checked. The questionnaire administrated on the study sample of (109) school principals (about 80% of the study population) in the state of Kuwait. Descriptive statistics, T-test, and one way ANOVA were used.
     The findings indicated that the values that school administrations developed were as following (ranked from highest to lowest): 1) patriotism; 2) belongingness and loyalty; 3) positive dialogue; 4) equality; 5) national solidarity; 6) tolerance and acceptance of others, 7) freedom, 8) political participation. Also, the findings showed that there were no statistical significant differences (a=0.05) of the role of school administration attributed to gender, years of experience, and school district. Finally, based on the findings, some recommendations were pointed out which might help high school principals to develop citizenship values among their students.
