Gulf Cooperation Council and The Arab Maghreb Union: A Comparative Study on Organization’s Functions and Sources of Performance

     The International Politics has been witnessing increasing interest in the field of regionalism and regional blocs such as the European Union and NAFTA. The Arabic World showed early interest in the field of regional blocs which led to the establishment of the Arab States League, Gulf Cooperation Council and Arab Maghreb Union. These organizations have been established due to political and security reasons, as well as for global economic pressure. This research is a comparative study to analyze the functions of both Gulf Cooperation Council and Arab Maghreb Union.  This study examines three main variable including, the regional environment, political regimes and institutions that have direct affect on the process of regional integration, particularly in the case of Gulf Cooperation Council and Arab Maghreb Union.
