Electricity in the United Arab Emirates in the Last Quarter of the 20thc: A Study in Economical Geography

     Electricity is considered one of the most important infrastructure components upon which the economic progress and social improvement of any region depend. It is also a pointer that indicates the degree of progress and the standard of living.

     This study deals with the development of electrical power generation and distribution in the United Arab Emirates in the last quarter of the 20th century. It also concentrates on the spatial differences as to production and consuming, and the average of an individuals share. In addition, the study investigates the quantitative and qualitative structure of electrical power stations and their geographical distribution. Furthermore, the paper focuses on the localization of electrical power stations in the United Arab Emirates and analysis of location factors. Finally, the paper sheds some light on the prospective view of generating electricity in the state, ways of consumption control, and the most important suggestions to use renewable electrical energy such as the solar or the wind energy, and the possibility of using them.
