THE EFFECTS OF IRAQI INVASION OF KUWAIT ADOLESCENT’S PSYCHO-PHYSIOLOGICAL DISORDERS

The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of Iraqi invasion on Kuwaiti adolescent’s Psycho-physiological disorders, before, during and after invasion and whether there was significant differences among the adolescent’s Psycho-physiological disorders and some variables which related to adolescents such as sex, place during invasion, death, capture or loss of friends or neighbours, captivity and witnessing someone being tortured, beaten or killed by Iraqi soldiers.  A questionnaire was administered to four hundred fifty one (451) Kuwaiti adolescents (boys and girls) between 14 to 19 years of age from high schools in Kuwait to measure reaction to certain Psycho-physiological disorders as reported by the subjects before, during and after the invasion.  The results revealed that there was a significant increase of the level of Psychophysiology disorders during and after, than before invasion.  There were significant differences of the level of psycho-physiological disorders after invasion among adolescents who had someone died, captured or lose of their relatives, friends or neighbors witnessing someone being tortured, beaten or killed and those who didn’t.  The results revealed no significant differences in Psycho-physiological disorders among the subjects were inside or outside Kuwait during invasion.
