END-USER COMPUTING USAGE BY KUWAITI MANAGERS: THE ROLE OF INDIVIDUAL CHARACTERISTICS

Auther : Dr. Adel M. Al-Adwani

This study investigates the use of EUC among Kuwaiti managers.  We develop and test a model that links four individual characteristics, i.e., gender, training and computer anxiety, to three measures of EUC usage, i.e., frequency of use, time of use and number of tasks.  The results indicate that there are differential impacts for the four individual characteristics on the three measures of EUC usage.  More specifically, we found that computer anxiety is negatively related to frequency and time of use; age is negatively related to frequency of use, time of use and computer anxiety; gender is negatively related to number of tasks and training is negatively related computer anxiety and positively related to the number of tasks.  Implications of the findings are discussed.

Key words: Kuwaiti managers, information systems, end-user computing, individual characteristics and computer usage.
