TOURISM DEVELOPMENT ON THE COAST OF AQABA GULF IN SAUDI ARABIA

Tourism industry in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is witnessing a growing concern and emphasis during the last 10 years.  Decision-makers in the country trust that tourism, particularly the domestic one will play a more important and effective role in the future.  This could be achieved through attracting a larger proportion of the Saudi’s tourists expenditure abroad to the benefit of domestic tourism or through encouraging investment in tourism projects locally and make use of the natural sites in the country that sustain various attractive tourism characteristics.

 

          The importance of this study focus on the exploration of the potential tourism development on the Saudi Arabian coast of the Aqaba Gulf, which contains attractive natural characteristics that made its Egyptian side one of the moist attractive site for coastal tourism.  The study also analyses the coast tourism attractive characteristics and concludes with recommendations of the most appropriate type of tourism that suit the natural, urban and economical natures of the studied area.
