SUFISM IN KUWAIT POETRY A READING IN KHALID SAUD AL-ZAID’S POETRY

Auther : By: Dr. Salem A. Khadadah

This is an attempt to study an important new trend in the contemporary Kuwaiti poetry, which is Sufism.

First of all, I started to clear up the general features of Suffi trends in Kuwaiti poetry.  Then I used the criticism approach that would observe the beginnings of this new trend in al-Zaid poetry.  Consequently, I focused on tackling this issue from different aspects such as:

Technical treatment and the most important concepts and characteristics that were involved in his poetry.

Al-Zaid’s poetry reveals his distinctive character among his peers in Kuwait. Al-Zaid is an exclusive poet who was strongly influenced by Islamic Suffi heritage.

Therefore, his suffi poems represent a special pattern in Kuwaiti poetry movement.
