THE ECONOMIC PATH OF THE STATE OF KUWAIT AND THE CHALLENGES OF THE THIRD MILLENNIUM: AN ANALYTICAL STUDY

Auther : Abdullah M. Al-Obaidan

It is clear that the government of the State of Kuwait cannot continue to be the owner of most economic activities and the sole contributor to the national economy. The increasing government deficit, the inefficiency of the state-owned organizations, the progressive movement of the world’s economy towards globalization and trade liberalization put great pressure of decision makers in the State of Kuwait to restructure the national economy. Accordingly, the newly approved five-year economic plan contained many laws, regulations and projects designed to liberalize the Kuwaiti economy from stringent government intervention that hindered its ability to grow. Hence, this paper is an attempt to provide a comprehensive analysis of the Kuwaiti economy with the aim of suggesting guidance to clear the part for revitalizing the national economy.
