Auther : Dr. Ahmed Al-Jarallah and Engr. Abdul-Hakim R. Al-Hamud
The aim of this paper is to study the locational distribution of coin telephones in the urban area of Al-Dammam, which includes al-Khubar, al-Dmmam and al-Zahran. An analysis of the current locational distribution was carried out which covered the patterns of distribution, i.e. distance required, numbers in proportion to population density and the shortcomings in the current distribution pattern. The paper concludes with recommendations for the installment of telephones in the areas where this service is not available yet and areas where additional numbers are needed.
The datas were collected through field trips to the parties related to this service especially the Saudi Telephone Department in al-Dammam City, where numbers and locations were provided for use in maps. Modern geographic methods of research such as quantitative analysis and urban planning were employed in analyzing the data, which is given in amended and recommended tables.
