THE STRATEGY OF RURAL DEVELOPMENT IN THE ARABIAN GULF STATES: A CASE STUDY OF U.A.E.

Auther : By: Dr. Haydar J. Ali

This paper deals with rural development in the Arabian Gulf States with special application to the United Arab Emirates. This subject is important in view of one of the difficult issues facing the Gulf States and the Arab countries in general, via food security. It is also important in view of the increasing volume of imported food stuff to meet the ever-increasing consumption needs of the area at a time when agriculture, in the Arab world is unable to satisfy the increasing demand for food. Although this is a problem faced by many countries especially those of the third world, the optional use of the material and human resources of the Arab countries can greatly contribute to the solution of this problem, achieving food security and combating the famine that has struck some parts of the Arab world.
