FUNDAMENTALS OF CHILD EDUCATION IN THE ARABIAN GULF

Auther : Dr. Abdul Mohssein A. Hamada

The delineation of pedagogic objectives represents the cornerstone of the whole educational process.  In the Arabian Gulf region, these objectives should be derived from specific sources which tend to affect radically the formulation and molding of child mentality and personality.

This paper outlined six of these objectives, namely: the specificity of the Gulf societies, the ethical and moral values of Islam, the inevitability of an Arab unity built upon an everlasting cultural heritage, the prominent characteristics of childhood, the changing nature of our era and the contributions made by indigenous educationalists.  Each of these six fundamental attributes was separately tackled and its bearing on child education was explored and analysed.

In its concluding section, the paper introduced some suggestions which may be taken into account when school curricula are being formulated or revised.
