THE EFFECT OF SOCIO-ECONOMIC FACTORS ON THE DEMAND OF HOUSING IN KUWAIT

This study is divided in the following five sections:

First:

General approaches to the study of the problem of housing.

Second:

The socio-economic factors affecting land use and value as well as the housing selection patterns. This section also deals with the different factors attracting Kuwaitis to certain areas such as the facilities available. These include supermarkets, schools, health care etc.

Third:

How the value of land, in general, is subject to the factors of accessibility value, amenity value, topography, in addition to historical factors. In the case of Kuwait can add proximity to the city centre, urban zoning, and land brokerage. This section will also deal with the decisions of the Urbanization Authority and their impact on the problem under study.

Fourth:

This section surveys the origin and extent of the housing problem in Kuwait, especially after the discovery of oil. The official handling of the problem will also be examined.

Fifth:

As a conclusion to this study, suggestions will be made for the solution of the housing problems. It will be shown how different problems need different solutions and how the cooperation of the Government, its Authorities and the Kuwaiti citizens are imperative.
