Discourse Analysis: From Classical to Digital
Auther : Dr. Menawer Bayan Al-Rajehi Dr. Adel Refaat Abdel Hakeem
Many and serious scientific attempts appeared that sought to detail the issue of discourse in terms of: Concept, types, methods and interpretation. These attempts revealed a great expansion in the connotations of the discourse concept. Despite the emergence of the term "discourse" in the field of linguistics in the West throughout the 20th century, yet the roots of the discourse are found deep in Arab culture. In that context, this book came as an attempt to present a way to understand the discourse, its methods, analysis tools, and its various schools of study from an Arab point of view, with a brief summary of discourse analysis in the fields of media, politics and religion to clarify the specificity of each discourse in terms of looking at the concept and the most prominent methods of analysis used in each field from these areas. The authors conclude the book with a chapter on discourse analysis in social networking sites to discuss new concepts such as the relationship between discourse analysis and network analysis in the Web 2.0 era, and the subsequent impact of electronic developments on the characteristics of discourse and its analysis tools.
