Psychology of Personality
Ahmed Abdel –Khalek
This book consists of four sections in twenty chapters. The first chapter is an introduction to the study of personality; its history, trends, definitions and association with related concepts. The subject of the first section is personality structure. It exposes the theories of factors, dimensions (with a special emphasis on the big five factor model), as well as personality from the behavioral, cognitive, psychoanalytical and humanistic perspectives.
The second section elucidates personality determinants, i.e., heredity and environment, and personality development and stability. The third section consists of four chapters dealing with personality assessment, i.e., questionnaires, rating scales and adjective check lists, objective behavior personality tests, and projective techniques.
At last, the fourth section introduces examples of research on personality. That is, optimism and physical health, Type “A” behavior, and anxiety and its predictors. Then, a table of references is appended.
