A Reading In "Four Poems" of Khalifa Al-Wugayan (in Arabic)
Auther : Salem A. Khadadah
The Kuwaiti poet Khalifa Al-Wugayan is considered one of the innovative poets in the Kuwaiti poetic movement. So far, he has published four poetry collections in addition to a number of critical studies. This research attempts to approach a certain aspect of his poetry represented in four distinguished poems he published in the year 1989 by means of concentrating on deviation and intertextuality in the poetry. Deviation was salient in three aspects: metaphors, symbols, and ambiguity. Both external and internal intertextuality showed the poet’s awareness and pursuit of the diversification of the poem’s diction and its development.
