Educational Values Derived from the Writings of the Students in Peace Bird (in Arabic)

Auther : Ali Ashour Al-Jafar

This study is derived from Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes by Eleanor Coerr, a real story which took place in the city of Hiroshima, when the first atomic bomb was dropped on the sixth of August 1945. One of the victims was a child called Sadako Sasaki (1943-1955). The author uses this story to establish a dialogue-relationship at the actual and real events level between what had happened in August 1945 in Japan and what was to happen after 45 years in Kuwait as a result of the Iraqi aggression, using the common sufferings between the two nations as the subject matter of dialogue. The result of that dialogue was “The Peace Bird”. The author presents the impressions and writings of students in the Children’s Literature course at the Faculty of Education, Kuwait University, who participated in the story as well as in the project.
