Elements of Narrative Structure in Rachid Daif's Novels (in Arabic)
Auther : Latif Zeitouni
The paper examines elements of narration in the Arabic novel by focusing on the actual fictional text. The approach to the subject of study is neither general nor particular. In other words, it concentrates on one writer, Rachid Daif, though it covers this author’s general work. While taking into consideration prevalent narratological approaches, the study does not focus on these critical notions. Rather, it takes the author’s actual works as the starting point and examines elements and components of narration, structure, general traits and particular attributes. The result may coincide with what critics have concluded, but one does not judge without investigation. Accordingly, the reader will encounter well known and new forms and modes of narration from the works. These innovative elements in the works can open new horizons within critical narratological discourse.
