The Poetic Sentence in the Omani Short Story (in Arabic).

Auther : Humaid Al-Hajri

The short story enters the world of poetry by employing many of poetry’s stylistic devices, whether pertaining to language, rhythm, or even its general structure. Poetic language is considered to be the most important level of stylistic interaction between the short story and the poem, both in terms of its textual occurrence or the stylistic functions it performs.
This study seeks to explore the ways through which the short story in Oman interacts with the poem in general. It also identifies the characteristics of the poetic sentence in the short story at different levels, starting from its textual occurrence, the narrative areas with which it correlates, the poetic stylistic devices which it uses, and finally the stylistic functions it employs to furnish the notions of space and psychological space.
This study applies a stylistic statistical approach in analyzing selected samples of Omani short stories. In addition, the researcher conducted a general descriptive survey that covers more than twenty collections of short stories.
Key words: Short story- Poem- Poetic language- Rhythm- Narration.
