Linguistic Deviation in Abdullah al-Baradooni's Poetry: "Ka'inat al-Shawq al-Akher" as a Model (in Arabic).

Auther : Safaa al-Sharida

In the past, classical linguists widely discussed the notion of poetic necessity. It had always been considered a flaw that afflicted poetry, especially after a thorough examination of the language had already led these linguists to establish fixed linguistic rules. Poerty was expected to conform to these rules; this, in turn, caused the poet to feel limited.
For this reason, the idea of linguistic deviation arose which aimed to formulate a new way of examining the literary text. It suggests that the poet has the right to deviate from the norm in regards to tropes, symbolism and the like. This deviation is performed for the sake of leaving the door wide open in poetry for introducing original ideas.
This paper calls for an expansion on the idea of deviation, to examine the possibilities of deviating from the standard language by using the poet's language while at the same time maintaining the intended meaning. The paper studies the modern poet, Abdullah al-Baradooni's tools that he used in his deviation from the standard language. Al-Baradooni is one of the most important modern poets who hepled develop the idea of deviation. The paper examines instances of deviation found in his collection of poems, "Ka'inat al-Shawq al-Akher", and categorizes them into different types. It looks at how far from standard language (in terms of form and content) the poems deviated and the semantic and poetical goals this deviation achieves.
Keywords: Al-Baradooni, Ka'inat al-Shawq al-Akher, Poetic Necessity, Linguistic Deviation.
