Kuwait House in Cairo and its Role in Organizing the Educational Missions of Kuwait 1944-1956 "Documentary Study (in Arabic)
Auther : Mousa Ghadban
This study aims at reviewing and documenting the role of the House of Kuwait, first established in Cairo in 1945 during the reign of Sheikh Ahmed al-Jaber al-Sabah, to accommodate all Kuwaiti students studying in Egypt. The number of students had continuously increased, and the House of Kuwait could no longer accommodate all the students. Hence, the students faced a problem finding other suitable accommodation. Consequently, the students found themselves unable to follow up with their studies in a proper way. The study also sheds light on all the stages that the House of Kuwait has gone through since the very beginning of its establishment, when Mr. Waklin, an educational consultant, submitted a preliminary proposal in which all the details regarding cost, administration, and organization were set forth. In addition, the study aims at documenting all the correspondence that took place between the Kuwaiti and the Egyptian educational officals, the British expert reports, the British Council in Egypt, as well as the correspondence that took place between Kuwait and the British commissioner in Kuwait. Moreover, the study aims to shed some light on different cultural, religious, social, and sports events that took place at that time. Finally, the study also documents the second House of Kuwait, established in 1950, by showing again the way it was administered. A number of tools were utilized for the sake of the study, such as investigating unpublished British reports and documents and different voulumes of "Al-Betha" magazine, established in 1946.
