The Historic Sites Passed by Prophet Mohamed in His Journey to the Farwell Pilgrimage (in Arabic)

Auther : Yasser Noor

The most discussed and fully explained topic relating to the Farewell Pilgrimage performed by Prophet Mohamed (Peace Be upon Him) in the Tenth year after Hijra is its jurisprudence part, i.e. its laws and acts of worship. Old and recent writings and researches give due attention and care to this aspect. However, a historical aspect of this pilgrimage is still untouched and hence wasn't thoroughly examined. This aspect is closely related to the historic sites passed and visited by Prophet Mohamed on his way from Medina to Makah. Accordingly, the illumination of this aspect is of paramount importance not only from a historical point of view but also from a Shar'ia's point of view, as these sites are closely related to the inscription of a number of jurisprudence laws of Hijj. However, the historically important aspect of the "Farewell Pilgrimage' is still vague, and still has not been given the researcher's attention. There is no doubt that this aspect is very important from a historical perspective, as well as from the religious aspect, simply because some of these places are closely related to some of the rituals of Hajj. This is what motivates the researcher to thoroughly examine the topic in focus. The methodology of the research aims at detecting theses sites, using available sources, and tracing the Prophet's journey from 'Dhu Hulayfah' in Medina to 'Wadi Tuwa' in Makah as well as monitoring these contact sites of relevant events and measuring distances between them. The research also aims at determining the old and modern names of these sites as well as determining the temporal setting when the Prophet passed by or visited these sites. In addition, the research will provide a list of photos, graphics and charts of these sites to support the research's goals.
