The Islamic World in The Writing of Orientalists in The Second Half of The Nineteenth Century: W.C. Blunt as a Model in The Future of Islam (in Arabic)
Auther : Zakaria Elrefei
There is no doubt that Islam presented a great danger to Europe, especially during the Ottoman expansion. In time, the Western civilization managed to absorb this threat, though it remains a matter of worry in the future.
This study attempts to shed light on the main issues which were contained in W.C. Blunt's valuable work entitled 'The Future of Islam' which was published in 1882. Though the book in question is an expression of his conviction, it is part of European discourse, especially the Victorian elite era in Britain and their attitude towards Islam. The book's value may lie in its emphasis on the same issues which were re-produced by contemporary Orientalism and the way it addressed Islam.
