Relational Structures in Al-Sayab's Poem "Fii al Sooq al Qadeem": A Textual Approach (in Arabic)
Auther : Abdul mahdi Al-Jarah , Eftkar Mohyeddin
This is a text-linguistics study which aims at investigating relational structures in Al-Sayab's poem "fii al sooq al qadeem" in an attempt to highlight the effect of relational structures on the overall aesthetics and cohesiveness of the poem.
The study begins with a general discussion of relational structures and then investigates these structures within the poem. These structures are found to be either direct or indirect. Direct structural relations are divided into consecutive, referential, circular, rhetoric and contrastive relations while indirect relations are divided into macro-semantic, micro-semantic, and dialogue structures.
The study concludes that these structural relations form a solid textual tool which contributes to the construction of the text semantically as well as grammatically. These relations also have an active role in delivering the emotive overtones intended by the poet. This ultimately provides evidence that text linguistics is the ideal approach for the discussion of the structure of contemporary poetry.
