Surat Al-Qamr: A Semantic Study of the Linguistic Structure (in Arabic)

Auther : Ala` Al-Deen Al-Gharaybah

The present research endeavors to highlight the significance of the linguistic structure of Surat al-Qamr (the Chapter of the Moon) through the diagnosis of the linguistic elements employed by the Quranic text and exemplified by the rhetorical system demonstrated in the tropes and inimitability of the balanced linguistic Quranic structures which evince a marvelous harmony between the phonetic sounds and morphological forms because the words are deemed as phonetic structures. The research attempts to survey the systematic dimensions of the syntactic structures employed for figurative purposes.

The research examines the place of articulation of sounds and their attributes which are prominently in this Surat, pointing out the morphological structure and its relevance to rhythm and the connotative dimension. The research also concerns some structural patterns in the Quranic text to reveal the artistic values and the aesthetics of their meaning by adopting the analytical approach by which the text is divided into three linguistic elements: phonological, morphological and syntactic to enable the reader to grasp the semantic values of this unique style. Finally, the Surat displays an unmatched composition in which most of the linguistic elements are aesthetically mingled to divulge the matchlessness of eloquence and greatness of its Maker, i.e, God.
