The Music Style of Abdalla El-Masri and an Analysis of the Trio "Elegy" for Violin, Cello and Piano (in Arabic)
Auther : Sahar Jamil Mulhem
Abdulla El-Masri is an Arab composer of Lebanese nationality. His works, performed in several European and Arab countries, are noted for their highly technical musical language as well as for their nationalist spirit. The research aims to introduce the life and works of this composer, highlighting his unconventional creative style. The study covers works composed up to the date of the current research and singles out the Trio Elegy for violin, cello and piano, a work written in memory of the late Assi Al-Rahbani, who played a great role in Lebanese musical life and culture. The paper seeks to give an overall assessment of the composers musical language: melodies, rhythms, scales, harmony, polyphony, music forms, orchestration and performing styles.
