Assertiveness and Marital Adjustment (in Arabic)

This study aims to fulfill the following purposes:
1 - Examine the correlation between the wifes and husbands level of assertiveness and marital adjustment.
2 - Recognize the most specific assertive skills which relate to marital adjustment level.
3 - The correctional coefficient between wife-husband discrepancy in assertiveness and marital adjustments.
We carried out the study on 140 married Egyptian workers and their wives. Their average age were 39 ± 7.5 and 34 ± 6.0 years, respectively. They were of the middle class and highly educated.
We interviewed them individually and asked them to respond to two measures of assertiveness and marital adjustment. The main results were as follows:
- Positive significant correlation between general assertiveness and marital adjustment.
- Positive significant correlation between the level of assertiveness of wives and husbands.
- The most assertive skill which related to marital adjustment was criticism and expression of admiration.
