The Development Pattern of Temporery life Expectancy in the Kuwaiti Population During the Period 1965 to 1985 (in Arabic)

The purpose of this study is to analyze trends of mortality in Kuwait during the period 1965-85. This study is demographic in nature and addresses specialized demographers in the area of mortality. The study utilizes civil data from vital records on mortality and census data collected by The Central Statistical Office. The Discrete method is employed in the analysis of mortality trends, and decomposition of improvements in life expectancy by changes in age-specific mortality rates. Mortality differentials according to nationality and gender are explored.

The study concludes that temporary life expectancy experienced steady improvements as consequences of improvements in living standards, and providing health care free of charge equally for all. Mortality decline among children under 5 years contributed the most to the overall improvement in temporary life expectancy.

There are Many reasons behind infant mortality decline, most notable are: the government attention to youth by establishing centers for nursery and infants as well as providing health care domestically and abroad to improve longevity. Other social factors include delay of marriage age among females, females, pursuit of higher education, and their active role in the labor force. Finally, progression of census and vital registration coverage have a critical role in establishing actual mortality trends in Kuwait.
