The Concept of Responsibility As Taken by University Youth in Jordanian Society (in Arabic)

Auther : Mohammad M. Khawaldha

This study has been carried out on a sample of youths pursuing their higher education at Yarmouk University. The subjects consisted of 140 randomly chosen 69 males and 44 females. The researcher used the analytical survey method to know their views about the concept of responsibility. The views were recorded by means of portable recorders in individual and group interviews which were organised for this purpose during which the researcher addressed a number of questions prearranged for the pupose, we may conclude that this sample of University students in Jordan conceives responsibility as fulfillment of trust in three ways legal responsibility, moral responsibility and social responsibility.

They distinguished between moral and legal responsibility. They believed that legal responsibility disappears with the passage of time, whereas moral responsibility remains to chase man continously; that responsibility is inalienable and that hard necessities facing man in his evironment may alleviae the responsibility incumbent upon the individual. But neither legal responsibility nor moral responsibility is to be borne by an insane adult or a minor, they hold that responsibility is an essential value to safeguard individual as well as society.
