The "Theory of Recurrence" According to Ibn-Kaldoun and Vico (in Arabic)
Auther : Muhsin M. Hussain
The philosophy of history according to the protagonists of the recurrence theory relies on the idea that the careful study of the past might help in understanding the present and the stage of maturity, to the stage of old age, then the inevitable death. The supporters of this theory attempted to compare civilizations to living organisms; and this means that the historian can, if he could determine the nature of a historical stage, decide the age of a certain civilization
These three stages appear with the Italian thinker under different names and formuli. This appears in his book The New Science where he laid down the basis of his doctorine on the foundation of the interconnections among the different forms of civilizations, making its links follow one upon the other in succession. In this way the successive stages are elevated higher and higher according to Vico.
