Diplomacy and Negotiation in International conflicts (in Arabic)

Auther : Omar El-Khatib

This article aims at clarifying the role played by diplomacy, through negotiation, in settling and resolving the international disputes and conflicts in such a way as to define the nature, size and efficacity of that role.

Negotiation, in itself, does not propose at every time and every place ideal and extraordinary solutions, nor it does produce final and everlasting outcomes to the disputes and conflicts between the states. Rather, it contains complicated take and give moves and various tactics. The positive and successful negotiation is the one that creates a sense of self-satisfaction to each of the negotiation parties. In other words, it is the one that contains, as a result, both gains and losses for these parties.

This article is divided into the following parts:

  1. international conflict its definition and strategy. Force, violence, coercion, the search for hegemony and influence, the concept of national or vital interests, game theory and the settlement of the international conflict.
  2. Diplomacy: its definition
  3. The negotiations dynamics.
