The Psychological Bases Of Learning In Small Groups (in Arabic)

Small group learning situation is an instructional procedure which has many psychological bases. Small group situations involve groups of five to seven persons. Attempting to complete an assigned subject matter related task in order to accomplish some educational objectives. The teacher’s role is to design the task, assign and organize students into groups, and act as a guide and consultant to groups as they work, the discussion groups typically operate independently of direct teacher leadership.

Small group learning situation is used for attaining many educational goals, it has been shown that such groups benefit too much and attain cognitive as well as affective and psychomotor objectives. Regardless of the goal of the small group activity, there appears to be may psychological principles based on social psychology and learning.

Each of these variables with its subvariables has been defined and discussed in this paper in an attempt to show that effective small-group learning situation is a function of careful learning and social psychology principles. The instructional designer can direct the small groups experience by preparing a written task assignment and a guide, for the effective utilization of group interaction skills.
