Synonymy between Old and Modern Linguists (in Arabic)
Auther : Ahmad Mukhtar Omar
This paper deals with synonymy from the points of view of both old and modern linguists.
Concerning old linguists, the paper discusses some important points such as:
a- The usage of the word synonymy in book titles.
b- The dispute among Arab linguists about the existence of this phenomenon.
c- The most important thoughts raised around this phenomenon.
As for modern linguists it was found necessary to start with two important points:
a- Viewing the definitions of meaning.
b- Exhibiting the different kinds of meaning.
Then the paper deals with:
a- The difference between completes synonymy, quasi synonymy, semantic relations.
b- The conception of complete synonymy.
c- The dispute among modern linguists about the existence of this phenomenon.
At last the paper reaches the conclusion that the complete synonymy which means full congruity of two words is not existent
in any language, especially if we look at the two words within one period, in one language and in one level of this language.
