On Child Acquisition Of Words (in Arabic)

Various aspects of child acquisition of vocabulary items are discussed: Prerequisites for acquiring words, age at which such an acquisition starts, the nature of words which are acquired during the first stage, types of categories these words consist of (nouns, action words, modifiers etc), comprehension versus production of words, etc. examples from both Arabic and English of the fifty words acquired by some children are given.
Finally, the children acquire meanings of words, the stages the go through in doing so, and a hypothesis attempting to account for the differences between adults and childrens meanings of words are discussed in some detail.
