The new Winter 2020 issue of The Arab Journal for the Humanities has been released. The 149th issue includes a total of seven Arabic research papers with English abstracts provided for each article. This issue also includes a seminar held by AJH and two book reviews.
The articles are:
1.    “Performance Analysis of Two Piano Works by Saidaminova” by Ilgiz Royanov, and Sahar Mulhem in Basic Education College, Public Authority for Applied Education and Training, Kuwait. The research presents a theoretical approach to performance analysis where it clarifies what is required to understand the rules of a score’s composition. The paper presents a brief biography of the Uzbek composer Saidaminova along with a list of her piano works, followed by the performance analysis of two different types of her piano works. 
2.    “The Geopoetics Approach to Interpreting Travel Literature” by Mekki SaadAllah, in the Arabic Language & Literature department, Tebessa University in Algeria. This research seeks to define the Geopoetic theory of the Scottish poet, Kenneth White, who resides in Paris, and its application in Travel Literature, for this genre of literature deeply addresses topics of place, earth, and nature.
3.    “Transition Paths from Lexicalization to Grammaticalization: A Reading of Some Grammatical Tools ” by Ahmad Alhasan, in the department of Arabic Language, in the Hashemite University. The research addresses some originally lexical units that underwent one or more linguistic changes, it provides a vision that could explain the formation of some grammatical tools in the Arabic language.
4.    “The Hungarian Refugee Crisis in the Ottoman Empire (1849-1851)” Yousef Omar, in the History Department, Al-Aqsa University, Palestine. The study provides with a historical introduction to the Hungarian War of Independence against Austria that took place between 1848 and 1849.
5.    “From Modal Logic to the Idea of the Possible Worlds” by Malika Medkour, in Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Hassiba Bin BuAli Bilshalf University, Algeria. The research employs an  analytical historical
method to examine the origins of the idea of “possible worlds” and the role that mathematics and logic plays in its development and expansion.
6.    “Metanarration in the Arabian Nights: The Tale of “The Porter and the Three Ladies” as a Model” by Samar al-Dayyoub, in the Arabic Language Department, Al-Baath University, Syria. This article claims that the term “Metanarration” originated in Old Arabic narrative writings, attempting to support this view and to illustrate the shift from traditional Arabic narration to metanarration. 
7.    “Romanticism in Ahmad Zaki Abou Shadi’s and Golchin Gilani’s Poetry: A Comparative Thematic Study” by Mohammad Jafar Asghari, in the College of Arts, Wali Al-Asr University, Iran. The present study aims to reveal the most important romantic features in the poetry of both poets based on analytical descriptive method and with the help of the principles of the American School of Comparative Literature.
AJH also hosted a seminar named “The French Language and Its Impact on the Arab World” headed by AJH’s editor-in-chief Prof. Nassima Al-Ghaith and was attended by a number of academics; Prof. Ahmad Saeed, Dr. Kholoud Al-Saleh, Prof. Zouaoui Beghoura, Prof. Magdi Saleh, Prof. Mouncef Khamiri, Prof.
Mansour BouKhamsin.
Finally, the issue includes two book reviews in Arabic:
“Subjectivity in the Language System” written by: Narjis Badis and reviewed by: Waleed Alanati.
“On the Rhetoric of Argumentation: Towards a Rhetorical Argumentative Approach to Discourse Analysis” written by: Mohammad Mechbal and reviewed by: Walied Shiami.
