Egyptian Family Business (II): A Field Study of Issues challenging Family(In Arabic)

Auther : Amr A. Zedan

This study attempts to explore the importance of different family business management issues within the Egyptian family business. A sample of 137 companies was selected from the Egyptian family business sector. Six hypotheses were formed, and a questionnaire was used in data collection pertaining to the variables of the study. Multivariate analysis techniques were used in data analysis. The results suggest that the most important issues challenging Egyptian Family Business are: the family control on the family firm management, the loyalty and role of non-family managers, redistribution of family ownership, authority, succession, and managerial professionalism. Company size, sector, legal status and the owner generations have significant effect on the importance of the mentioned issues, while organizational age and managing generations have not. A discussion of the results and their implications were presented along with suggestions for further research.
