Factors That Affect the Level of Entrepreneurial Traits among Students in Egyptian Universities

Auther : Amr A. Zedan

This study attempts to explore the entrepreneurial traits of university students in Egypt, and the situational factors that make difference in the formation of these traits. Four hypotheses were formed, a questionnaire was used and a sample of 1755 senior students was selected from the engineering and commerce colleges in six different universities. Entrepreneurial traits resulting from Factor analysis (General entrepreneurial readiness, independence, locus of control, need for achievement, and concern for wealth accumulation, self-confidence and risk taking propensity) were examined according to 4 groups of situational factors using One-way ANOVA. Except for the family background, where the support was weak, supportive results for the other hypotheses were obtained in varying degrees. The results and their implications were discussed, and suggestions for further research were presented.
