Developing a model that could produce efficient and effective faculty-course schedules has been a challenging task in universities around the world. Different systems have been designed and built in an attempt to come up with the optimal schedule, yet every system has its limitations and drawbacks. This paper utilizes zero-one goal programming technique to assign faculty members to courses as a first stage and then to allocate courses-faculties to time-slots as the second stage. Through this two-stage optimization procedure, the model seeks to maximize the faculty course preferences in the first stage and maximize faculty time preference in the second stage. The method used in satisfying goals is the priority sequence approach, where goals are satisfied according to their order of importance based on some university, college, department, and major regulations and requirements. The model has been tested on different assignment scenarios. The first stage has proven to fulfill most goals completely to optimality, and then fulfill the faculty course teaching preferences up to 85.2%. The second stage fulfills the faculty-course-time slot teaching preferences up to 88.8%.
