Evaluation of Saudi Organizations Fellowship Test for Certified Public Accountants from Examinees Viewpoint: An Exploratory Study

Auther : Ghadah M. Oraff
& Awad Salamah Alrehaily

The main objective of this study is to evaluate Saudi Organization's Fellowship Test for Certified Public Accountants from examinees' point of view. To achieve this objective, the role of in-house training and continuing education for public accountants, together with the related literature was highlighted and discussed. Thirty factors are believed to lie behind the low pass rate in the test. They are classified into three main groups: nine factors relate to examinees', eight factors relate to the test's environment, and thirteen factors relate to preparation courses. These factors derive from a survey completed by the examinees sitting for the test in three major cities of the Kingdom (Riyadh, Jeddah, Damam) in the first batch of 2006. The study concludes with some suggestions and recommendations which aim to improve the passing rate without reducing the professional standards governing such types of tests.
