Toward the Awareness of the Use of Strategic Information by Kuwaiti Executives: A Field Study

This article investigates the awareness of the use of strategic information by 347 Kuwaiti executives. Major results show that: (1) "environmental scanning" and "vigilant information system" are the most preferred concepts that refer to this operation; (2) executives knowledge about strategic information management is average; (3) systematic collection of strategic information is lacking, (4) there is a positive relationship between knowledge of environmental scanning and knowledge of weak signals and strategic information; in addition, there is a positive relationship between knowledge of weak signals and their collection, (5) there is no significance difference in the behavior of strategic information collection between small and large companies. Paper discusses these issues and implications relevant to management practice and information systems development.
