A study of Some Determinants of Employees’ Attitudes Towards Work Ethics in Kuwaiti Business Organizations

Auther : Ali H. Muhammad

The present study aimed to test the role played certain demographic variables such as age, gender and external factors in determining employees’ attitudes towards work ethics. The research involved a sample of 411 workers selected from 6 business organizations in Kuwait. It addressed the assumption that differences in work ethics relied basically on differences in gender and age, whereby women were believed to be tougher on unethical work behavior than men, and the older employees tougher than the younger. The study presumed the presence of a certain interactive impact of employees’ age and gender in determining attitudes towards work ethics in general. An equal impact on work ethics was thought to be associated with certain external factors which were similarly subject to variation according to the age and gender of the employees. The results yielded by the research were supportive of its hypotheses with the exception of the assumption that age played a role in determining the attitudes of employees towards work ethics as this turned out to be only true for men but not for women.
