Auther : Darwish Abdul Rahman Yousef
This paper investigates the current status of computer use in the U.A.E. Government Sector and top management attitude towards its use in managerial practices in this sector. The results suggest that almost half of administrative units in government agencies use computer, mainly for word processing, database and payroll preparation. The main obstacles to the wide use of computer in this sector are lack of specialists and low appreciation of the role of computer by top government officials. Results also indicate that 20 % of top management have positive attitudes towards computer use in managerial practices and that there is significant relationship between their attitudes and their educational level, field of study, span of supervision and administrative level.
