Factors Influencing the Practices and Perceptions of the Importance of Personnel Functions in Business Organizations: The Case of the United Arab Emirates
Auther : Darwish Abdul Rahman Yousef
This paper empirically investigates the effect of four factors on business organizations’ practices and perceptions of the importance of personnel function; namely the type of organization, its size, the presence (or lack thereof) of a separate personnel department, and its age. The results show that most of the personnel activities practiced and perceived by managers at all levels, essential in the UAE, are administrative in nature. The results further suggest that except for the age of the organization, all remaining factors exert significant effect upon personnel activities across managers at all levels without many differences among them.
