The Effect of Demographic Variables on Achievement Motivation among Kuwaiti Students at Kuwait University

Auther : Adam Ghazi Al-Otaibi

This study investigates the difference in achievement motivation of both sexes. It is also concerned with the effect of demographic variables, such as: marital status, birth order and academic level, as it applies to achievement motivation. The results showed that there were significant differences in achievement motivation between the two sexes. These were in favor of the females, who had a higher score than the males. It was found that marital status and birth order had no effect on the achievement motivation of both sexes. Furthermore, achievement motivation for females did not change by academic levels. However, there were significant differences in achievement motivation between male students at junior year and male students at senior year. Accordingly, male students had higher scores in senior year than their peers in junior year.
