The Successful Negotiator from the Viewpoint of Executives in Saudi Arabia

The study examines the characteristics which, from the perspective of Saudi and Arab executives in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, make up a successful negotiator. The study also addresses the impact of different cultural and demographic backgrounds on such perspectives. The findings indicate that the above executives consider a broad range of characteristics as proper to a successful negotiator. Factor analysis reduced these characteristics to five, namely leadership, character, communication, opportunism, and persuasiveness. Very few differences were detected between Saudi an Arab executives regarding the above findings. Demographics, though, were found to have relatively more influence, especially education and experience.
