About Us

Scope

Founded in 1980, Annals of the Arts and Social Sciences ( formerly Annals of the Faculty of Arts until 1999) is a refereed periodical dedicated to the publication of research as monographs within the interests of the Faculties of Arts and Social Sciences at Kuwait University and parallel academic bodies and institutes.

The Editor – in – chief is member of staff in the Faculty of Arts or the Faculty of Social Sciences . Members of the Editorial Board are appointed from professors and associate professors in the different specialties in the two faculties . The Editorial Board receives advice from an Advisory Board of specialists in literature, humanities and social studies at various Arab Universities.

Objectives:

    The Annals of the Arts and Social Sciences publishes original research in Arabic and English in areas relevant to the social sciences, the humanities, and the Arts. It is affiliated to Kuwait University Academic Publication Council which publishes several refereed journals of diverse academic pursuits. The Annals issues appear in monographs and are rigorously peer-reviewed by two to three referees.

  • To publish original and high quality research monographs by members of staff in the Faculties of Arts and Social Sciences at Kuwait University and parallel academic institutes in Kuwait and the Arab World.

  • To promote and broaden the scope of knowledge inside and outside Kuwait.

  • To strengthen cultural and academic ties between Kuwaiti scholars and their Arab counterparts and to expand horizons of knowledge internationally.

To highlight Arab and Muslim scholars' scientific and cultural contributions to human knowledge and world civilization.

   Submitted manuscripts are peer-reviewed by two or three academics who are well-reputed internationally or locally.  Evaluation should observe the following:
1.    The originality and importance of the submitted research.
2.    Innovation and contribution to existing knowledge in the investigated field of study. 
3.    Careful choice of relevant methodology and approach (field studies should include specimens, tools, and statistics).
4.    Proper organization of topics and sub-topics and adopting a suitable lay- out of the research elements.
5.    Clarity of style and infallibility of language (including typos).
6.    Reliability of references and correctness of documentation.
7.    Offering a final assessment of the research and deciding whether the manuscript is accepted for publication without any amendments, accepted with minor or major changes, or rejected.
